A group of 8 Interaction 20 attendees sits around a restaurant table looking at the camera. There are drinks, menus, and an open bottle of wine on the table. The evening is just getting started.
Our community dinners in Milan: intimate, relaxing, and Italian.

Until a couple of decades ago, many plans, ideas, concepts, and things were promoted as universal — universal design, housing, size, you name it. And then, we stopped. Perhaps because we realized that universal means nothing. But if there’s still one thing that we can describe as the closest to being universal, it must be our love for food (that was a grand introduction just to get here).

To compensate for long-missed in-person socials from the past two years, we’re bringing back the social dining event to Interaction Week. You might remember them from our last rendezvous in Milan in 2020.

Enter the cook-along dinners at Interaction 23, where we invite you to get your hands dirty! In curated venues across the city of Zürich, you will help put together a meal with speakers and other interaction design practitioners from the conference (the level of engagement and group size will vary by venue).

Don’t let the name ‘cook-along’ scare you — it doesn’t matter how good or bad of a cook you are. To give you some examples, at Mezze a gogo, you’ll learn to make Lebanese mezze from an experienced Lebanese-Swiss instructor that knows both how to cook delightful mezze dishes and entertain us with stories of a Lebanese way of living in the vibrant city of Beirut. At Das Provisorium, you’ll be served raclette, a simple yet scrumptious traditional Swiss meal, to experiment and find out your favorite cheesy combination.

10 people sit at a long restaurant table facing each other — 5 on each side. The table is set with plates and bottled water. It is between courses. The diners are engaged in conversation with each other — there’s only 1 person checking their phone!
Nothing quite like eye-contact and some conversation over food after 2 years of social distancing.

This is your chance to meet and exchange with others around you in a casual and cozy environment while enjoying the selection of Swiss wine (fun fact: most Swiss wines are consumed within the country and only about 1% of it is exported).

Menus range from traditional and modern Swiss to Lebanese and Tibetan. Most venues come with vegetarian and/or vegan options. You can find details at the cook-along ticket checkout. The cook-along dinners take place on 2 March (Thursday) — the second day of the conference—from 7:00-10:30 pm. All venues are within a 20-minute tram ride from Kongresshaus, our conference venue. You can use the public transportation pass that we’ll provide you (make sure to tick the box when you get your ticket) to reach your venue.
